About the Author
The silly and sleepless Mistress McCutchan, otherwise known in the real world simply as Laura, created Morbid Outlook in August of 1992, while still a gothling in high school.

She is a freelance web designer, but also makes time to also design and make all sorts of stuff, DJ, dance as one-half of Serpentina as well as direct her Toronto-based troupe, The Serpentina North Ensemble. She is vegan, but not one of the pushy ones. When not working like a maniac, she can be found becoming one with the couch, especially if Three’s Company is on.

Ten Questions with Rogue of The Cruxshadows
Mistress McCutchan
I really enjoy music, but it doesn’t necessarily mean I want to read about it. If you think band interviews/reviews are a tedious read, try writing one! I thought it would be much more interesting to gain insight on the people behind the music with just ten little questions, straight from the artists to you...

1) Chocolate or vanilla?
Very allergic to chocolate/caffeine. So I would go with Vanilla – but really almond, caramel, pistachio, rum-raison, or rooibos are all favorite flavors – life isn’t really black and white.
2) Do you have any pets and what are they?
1 rottweiler named Ajax, 3 cats: (Napoleon-Cassanova/KatieCat/ and Shadow), 3 rats (athena, Persephone, & Artemis), Several large tanks of goldfish & koi including Aquaman, AquaLady, & Nigiri (among many others)
3) Favourite place to visit?
I really enjoy touring the world – and I have seen a lot of places... my shortlist of my favorites are in no particular order: Scandinavia; Bavaria – especially Schwanngau; Beijing, China; Texas; Wien, Austria; Prague, Czech Republic; Budapest, Hungary; Berlin, Germany; Barcelona, Spain; Rome, Italy; New York, New York; Athens, Greece; London, England; Edinburgh, Scotland; and Dublin, Ireland.
4) Favourite article of clothing?
My Texas Ranger badge.
5) Favourite piece of art?
Anything by Gustav Klimt or poet/writer/artist Kahil Gibran. Very fond of David, Cannova, Bernini, Turner, and romanticism and neoclassicism in general.
6) If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
I am a cartoon character. But if you want a recipe, it would be:
1 part underdog
2 parts Optimus Prime
add a light sprinkling of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (to taste)
blend and then stir in a healthy does of anime to make it look right.
7) What are you most likely to be doing at 3 am?
Working on Cruxshadows, sometimes business, sometimes music or art.
8) Age you lost your virginity?
Nothing I care to share.
9) What piece of advice would you give to a teenager?
You can be who you want to be. Don’t be afraid to dream. Don’t simply settle for what is given to you. The road less travelled is harder by far, but it is more rewarding in the end. Nothing worth having comes easy, and anything truly worth keeping is worth fighting for. Pay attention to the small things, but keep the big picture in mind, and don’t lose sight of what really matters. Act with courage, especially when you are afraid. Don’t worry too much, keep things moving forward. Life will deal you terrible cards sometimes, Do your best with what you have to win, but enjoy the game even when you lose. Never surrender. Failure only happens when you give up, anything else is education. And lastly, but most importantly, you are responsible for your own happiness, nobody else; Not your parents, significant other, teachers, classmates etc. When you take responsibility for yourself you will empower yourself to make your dreams a reality.
10) What are you most proud of to date?
The impact my songs seem to have made on some peoples lives. It’s my way of changing the world just a little bit for the better. The person I am most proud of is my wife, Jessica.
