Ten Questions with Kerry Smith of Anathema Device
Mistress McCutchan
I really enjoy music, but it doesnt necessarily mean I want to read about it. If you think band interviews/reviews are a tedious read, try writing one! I thought it would be much more interesting to gain insight on the people behind the music with just ten little questions, straight from the artists to you...
1) Chocolate or vanilla?
Only Sith deal in absolutes. Really, I hate to choose between good
things. I like both in different circumstances. They dont mix
well, but each can be fun in their own way.
2) Do you have any pets and what are they?
Theres a spastic pug named Squee. We heard that Rob Zombie has a
black pug named Dracula, so weve considered a friend for him once he chills out a little.
3) Favourite place to visit?
Anywhere that we dont need to rely on a car... New Orleans. Large
parts of Europe: Amsterdam (2nd home, really), Norway, Venice...
4) Favourite article of clothing?
Nice boots. Wanna...?
5) Favourite piece of art?
Blast! Theres that F word again. I suppose that (speaking of
visual art) I am particularly attached to a small marble copy of Cannovas 3 Graces that I picked up in Sorrento.
6) If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
I was Quick-Draw McGraw one summer at a theme park. Though I think
Im a little too suave to be him in an analogy.
7) What are you most likely to be doing at 3 am?
Sleeping *sigh*. But I like the daylight as well as the night, so
its a fair trade most times.
8) Age you lost your virginity?
Whatever are you getting at? fans self
It was probably older than kids today, but young enough to still be pretty clueless. It still
felt like it was too late at the time.
9) What piece of advice would you give to a teenager?
Please do something useful if you go to college... like a trade. I
know too many people going for their second degrees. If you have to go for some sort of Artsdegree, excel and bust your ass on it. Like I did. Everyones all follow your dream for the last 30 years, but honestly, I think that following your dream to be the engineer who creates a great alternative energy source kicks the shit out of the dream to be the next Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton.
10) What are you most proud of to date? Most...? favorite? Youre not making this easy... *sigh* Maybe
that I did actually succeed in making music and have never worked in another industry since a year out of college. Plus, that I still can count myself as a fairly decent person (by my own standards).
