About the Author
The silly and sleepless Mistress McCutchan, otherwise known in the real world simply as Laura, created Morbid Outlook in August of 1992, while still a gothling in high school.

She is a full-time, senior web designer, DJ, and director of The Serpentina North Ensemble. She is vegan, but not one of the pushy ones. When not on the road or working like a maniac, she can be found becoming one with the couch, especially if Three’s Company is on.

Louisa John-Krol – Ariel
Track Listing: Blackbird, Red Balloon, Numb the Wren Tear, Nobelius’ Garden, Beads of Rain, The Seagiant, Ariel, Alice in the Garden of Live Flowers, Tale of a Thorn, Salamander, Anemone Falling, Sentinel.
I liked this cd the instant I started listening to it; it brought to mind celtic, folky and dancey touches of Kate Bush, Loreena McKennitt and Delerium. A very enchanting album. (And not that this affected my opinion on the music, but I really love the painting used on the cover!)
Mors Syphilitica – Feather and Fate
Track Listing: The Hues of Longing, Naturally Cruel, Between Feather and Fate, Only a Whirlwind, Galatea, Glorious Breath, Nostalgia’s Sea, The Chains of Reason, A Fever Dream, Fountain of Tears, My Virgin Widows, Far From Loneliness, Sins of the Dove, How Long.
This album is very easy to listen to with Lisa Hammer’s soaring voice oozing over ethereal music. By far the strongest and most beautiful album of theirs to date!
Unto Ashes – Saturn Return
Track Listing: Morte O Merce, Sonnet 87 (“When As Man’s Life”), Ein Fluch (“Curse”), Serve Me, They Killed Three Little Maids, Glass, Invisible, 1st Lunar Runic Calendar, Ostia (The Death of Pasolini), 2nd Lunar Runic Calendar, Regret, A Sa Maitresse, You Say You’re Happy Now, A Hymn To Pan, Witches Ruin.
Saturn Return is an excellent follow-up to Unto Ashes’s debut release, Moon Oppose Moon. This album takes a very esoteric twist, with their Coil cover (Ostia) and with Middle Eastern influences. A gorgeous release (and another cd cover with a beautiful painting!)
Sanctum – New York City Bluster, live at cbgb’s
Track Listing: Axiom, Mindtwister, Decay, Parca Pace - Part 1, In Two Minds, Sly Dog, Gift, Gifthorse.
Fans of the Cold Meat Industry label will not be disappointed. This live album from Sanctum is what we know and love from Cold Meat Industry: creepy experimental ambient and heavy duty noise. A very dramatic, brooding live account.
Land of Nod – Mont Veritoux
Track Listing: Orientation Point, san Juan Capistrano, Altitude, Sommet, Anquetil, Mont Ventoux.
This release from Silber Records is a sweet album of lulling, folky guitar. As the name, Land Of Nod implies, ‘tis quite dreamy.
Caprice – Elvenmusic
Track Listing: Marcia trionfale, Ieratico Buio, Bachianinha, Il Dolore, Arcano Manoscritto, Come Fiore Reciso, Adrastea, Teng Ku Yeh Ch'eng, Sub Occasum Solis, Agincourt, the Night, Ode Alla Luna.
Lovely, neo-classical inspired by the fae folk and brought to you by Prikosnovenie Records. Perfect for that relaxing soak or that ride up to the Ren Faire this summer.
