Pre-French Revolution Hair Recreation
Kylie Martin
The style to be
demonstrated here was inspired by this piece on the left. The ingredients required:
shoulder-length or longer hair
tail comb
hairspray
bobbypins/hairpins
curly add-on pieces (long flat pieces of curls as opposed to buying banana curls)
Divide hair into three sections make the middle section a V-shape starting at the mid-to the far corner of each eyebrow and meeting 1-2" above hairline in the center back.
Take the middle section into a low ponytail, then take one strand of hair and wrap around ponytail and ponytail hairband to hide it.
Secure this strand of hair underneath with two crossed bobby pins.
Take ponytail section and plait, then wrap this into a bun and secure with hair pins.
Take a side section of hair and backcomb.
Take curly hair pieces (and use crossed bobbypins) to secure to the underside of this backcombed section, from the ear to the middle back.
Take the backcombed section and roll under into a sausage roll you may want to do this in two sections.
Repeat this on other side. Use a light hairspray to spray, then comb gently to smooth strands of hair.
The finished project! Check your hairstyle for balance and symmetry. Make sure sure all your bobbypins and hairpins are well hidden and that your hairstyle feels secure.
Suggestions:
Decorate with small rosettes or flowers on the sides or tie a ribbon around the ponytail and tie into a bow after you have made your bun. Use your imagination! Have fun!
